What happens when we're BORED!

Its a quiet Sunday afternoon and we're bored, so we took some photos for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy.

This is what you see when coming out of Light Speed!
It's a new comic book starring The Brennans.

I don't really know what to say about this one.

It's Miss Piggy from The Muppets!

This is what happens if you only feed a baby chocolate!

Don't worry, this is how we look in real life.

Brooke and her twin...they're attached at the shoulder.

What Lauren would look like if she had to handle twins.

It's a good thing Brooke didn't get her mother's forehead and eyebrows....
Or did she?

Brooke's first words!

Ok, the title is sort of misleading, but still sort of true! Brooke has been trying to talk A LOT this past week and we think she's starting to get the hang of it. I hope she's starting to understand that what we are trying to get her to say has meaning to what she is doing. She'll get it eventually.

-"mamama"- I think she knows that I have something to do with this word. This morning she woke up a little early, so I laid her back down and left. Next thing I hear is this sad voice saying mamama. Maybe she knows.
-"dadadada"- I'm not so sure she knows that this is Gordon because she says it all the time. Or, maybe she just loves her daddy so much that she talks about him all day!
-"banana yum"- Shayna was watching Brooke for us on Wednesday afternoon and was feeding her some banana. Apparently, Brooke said "banana yum" or something really close. Too bad we missed it!
-"ock"- We were playing with blocks and I kept saying 'block' trying to get her to repeat it and she sort of did with her 'ock' response.

Hope to post more talking news soon!

Funny Story

Have you ever heard of how to catch a monkey? You put a banana in a box with a hole big enough to fit the monkeys arm in, but small enough that they can't pull the banana out. So, they don't want to let go of the banana and they get caught! Ever heard that before?

WELL, I had and today, Brooke reminded me of that. When I get ready in the bathroom for the day (blow dry my hair, put on make up, etc. etc.) I'll give Brooke random things to play with. Today, I gave her a hair clip. She decided to play fetch with herself, throw the clip, then crawl after it and repeat. At one point the bathroom door was half open and I was on one side and she was on the other. Brooke threw the hair clip and it somehow slid under the door to my side. I then could see her little hand reach under the door to get the clip. She felt around, grabbed it but couldn't pull it back under because both her hand and the clip couldn't fit. She was stuck with her hand under the door refusing to let go of the clip (screaming a little by this point too!) I obviously go to help, make her let go and open the door completely so she could get the clip again. Isn't that so funny! I love seeing her little mind work! Cute girl! Haha!

The fetch game soon resumed.

Reasons we like Rexburg

Contrary to popular belief, Gordon and I don't mind it here in Rexburg at this point in our lives. Rexburg and BYU-Idaho have been very good to us not to mention Heavenly Father, too. We have been looked after and taken care of and we are excited to start the new chapter in our lives to see where we go and where we end up. Until that all happens, I thought I'd post reasons we like it here. This small town takes a little getting used to, but once you're used to it, its great! Let me count the ways....

1. Gordon and I met and fell in love here! Well, technically, we met, I fell in love.........and waited a few years until (hallelujah) all the stars aligned, and he noticed me as someone more than a friend. We got engaged and then we were married. It was a dream.

2. I met some of my best friends here and we have had such great times together! Amy and Amy....love you both to pieces.

3. My sister and her family moved here! I thought I would never see the day, but it happened and now we hang out a lot! Brooke especially loves playing with her cousins!

4. BYUI- Its a great school where we've earned or will earn our Bachelors Degrees! (Woo hoo Gordon! Graduation is just around the corner!!)

5. We had Brooke at the hospital here. Precious!

6. Our apartment is cheap and the cost of living is low!

7. Of course Craigos....and Bajio, even though Bajio is a chain restaurant and you can get their food other places. Brooke even loves these restaurants too!

Anyways, thats it for now. Just thought I'd reminisce before we move far far away and I'll be missing it! Never thought I'd say that, but I think it might be true.....

Brooke, the theif!

The innocent unsuspecting victim:

The alleged pacifier theif:

"Hey, whatcha got there?"

"I'll take that!"

Caught on camera!

Brooke has been up to more than just playing with her cousins, and stealing their things!

She's trying to walk!

She's practicing her rocket launching skills.

She's trying to see how many blocks she can fit into her mouth.

And she's trying to communicate with her mouth full of apple!

Lauren's Little Helper by Gordon

As usual, Brooke is at her cutest. She loves to eat Pancakes, well play with them while taking a few bites. The sound of her little lips smacking and seeing her chew with an open mouth is especially cute and always makes us smile. We'll teach her to chew with her mouth closed as soon as it stops being cute.
Stuffing her face with a couple of pancake pieces.

She has mastered the art of opening and swallowing, something my parents would always say as they fed us, as children. Only she does it all on her own. It's like she's in an eating contest with herself. She wins every time!

When Brooke gets bored of her toys and videos, she follows Lauren into the Kitchen and helps her get food ready. Well, she doesn't help necessarily, but if she were able, she would be all over it.
Luckily we only have the tupperware in drawers she can reach. She has fun pulling out the lids and putting them on the floor.

Marathon? Maybe......

As one of my new year resolutions, I wanted to say I was going to run a marathon this year. I already did a half marathon a few months ago and I'll be running another one in April, but marathons are TWICE that distance and the training would be ridiculous. Like running 50+ miles a week ridiculous.
I don't have the time right now because of Gordon's schedule. AND, more importantly, who knows where we'll be after April. I can't sign up for any races because we might move away. So, depending on future events, maybe I'll get around to running one this year. Maybe..........

What we did today!

We did a lot of stuff today! We didn't document a whole lot of it with the camera either, but thats ok. You all probably wanted to see photos of Brooke anyways.
1. First things first! Gordon started his first day of classes for his LAST SEMESTER of school! So exciting! I think we'll be seeing a lot more of him since he only has 2 classes a day that last 3 hours on the long days! How great is that? We love having him home so much!

2. I went for a run outside in the snow and ice. I said it before and I'll say it again - Rexburg doesn't know how to plow their streets and side walks! Most of the side walks weren't plowed at all, so I had to run on the roads which were still snowy and slushy! It got my feet wet, but was a really challenging workout because of all that resistance, especially going up hill!

3.
I went into the bathroom and closed the door and Brooke came crawling after me and waited for me to be done! She even stuck her fingers under the door and made a few banging sounds with her hands that sounded like knocking! Isn't that so sweet?! Gordon was smart enough to take a picture!

4. I finally got back onto WIC! AND, we get fruits and vegetables too! When we left, they hadn't changed it, but now that we're back, its all new! I love it!

5. I went to the store and did some grocery shopping! Thank you WIC! I love free groceries!

6. I did dishes, organized some shelves, unpacked some boxes, cleaned the main living areas and made dinner all while Brooke was taking her afternoon nap!

7. Brooke took a 2 1/2 hour nap this afternoon! She must be in a growth spurt because that is so unlike her! BUT, I was able to get A LOT done while she was down and while Gordon was at class.

8. Brooke was cute at dinner, so we took a few photos! Enjoy!
Brooke loves her cucumbers!

My all time favorite picture of the day! Haha! What a funny girl!

Smiling at mommy while making monkey noises. I just started making animal noises yesterday and she loves the monkey noise. Who knew?

9. Gordon applied to lots of jobs! A different job for now while we're still here and other finance jobs when he's done in April. I think he applied to 5 or 6 today and they were all in different states! I don't remember them all, but I know there was one in Chicago and another in Boston...maybe another one somewhere in Texas?! I dunno, but we're excited to see where we end up!

10. I folded all the laundry in the same day it was washed! Usually I let it sit in the baskets for days. For those of you who know me, thats BIG!

Fun in the Snow!

How does Mother Nature welcome us back to Rexburg? With a whole lot of snow! We made the most of it, bundled up and played outside today! It was a lot of fun, especially with Zoe and Keegan! Brooke wasn't too thrilled with any of it. Oh well. Maybe next time.
