I am a bad blogger.

For my food blog, I'm great because I have a schedule for myself. However, when it comes to this blog, I'm the biggest slacker! Boo to me. Anyways, I think I need to just write about a few things happening in our lives just to have it written down somewhere and so I can update you all! :)

1. We are house sitting for Mark and Tammy, Gordon's brother and wife while they are away on vacation in Hawaii. I really wish we were on vacation in Hawaii. I want to go. Bad.

2. Brooke loves it here. Their house is full of books, toys, swings, movies, and everything else she loves.

3. Still looking for work for Gordie-pants. He works part time at the moment but the job is kinda lame and is getting him nowhere. Although we do love the discounted fruit we get! :)

4. There are prospects for work in Washington DC and Medford OR at the moment. This changes regularly.

5. Gordon and I are slightly sick....just sore throats. We've been taking all the Vitamin C we can get!

6. Speaking of healthy, Brooke has become such a great eater! Today for dinner, she ate an entire scrambled egg, 1/2 waffle, 4 orange segments and a glass of milk! She prefers healthy foods over unhealthy ones! It's kind of nice and keeps up healthy.

7. Gordon is looking really good. He set a diet goal at the beginning of the year so he could get more ripped and see results quicker. The low carb thing he's doing is working....in my opinion. He'd like to see results a little faster, but so far so good! Oww oww! He's always looked good though.

8. I'm eating healthily still, carbs included. I got a gym membership and have started going at 6 am most mornings. I hate getting up, but I love coming home and having my workout done by 7:45. It feels great.

9. We're working on our taxes and it's boring. I'm waiting for a form from Good Morning America because I apparently need to 'claim my prize' {the expenses of me going to NY to be on the show} on my taxes. As it stands, we should get a tax refund, but we'll see once we put all that info in. I hope it doesn't effect it. Lame if it does.

10. I've looked at houses for sale a lot. I don't know what this means. And I know I won't be able to buy one for years, but it's lots of fun to look! :)

11. Brooke is repeating a lot of what we say. If we ask her to say something, she will say it pretty clearly, too. It's so cute! She will also 'sing' different songs. Most recently, I've heard her sing "abc's", "popcorn popping"and "reverently quietly". It sounds like gibberish, but I know she's learning!

12. Brooke will be two very soon! The tantrums have sort of started. If I ignore them, they seem to be a lot shorter. That's the route I'm taking as of now. We'll see how bad this gets in the upcoming months.

That's all I can think of right now. Good night!

Update: Brooke & Binky-Where are they now?

Brooke has done remarkably well without her pacifier. All in all, it took her about 5 days to be completely over it. Her nap times were the hardest, screaming almost all the way through. So, hooray! The binky is successfully tucked away in the back of a drawer never to be missed again.

The only problem now is her naps have become significantly shorter. She used to sleep 2 hours or more with her pacifier and now without it, I'm lucky if she'll sleep 45 minutes. Any ideas as to why? Maybe she's getting older and doesn't need the sleep? Thoughts?

Cute little pony!

I love Brooke's hair!
Especially in a cute little ponytail!
The ends curl ever so slightly making her practically irresistible.

Why I love my daughter

Because she is a HAM!

Binky go bye-bye!

We started Brooke young on the pacifier and it was a miraculous thing. I know there are the die hard people who say "I would never give my child a pacifier". Well, I am not one of those people. As a matter of fact, I'm all for them and here is why:

1. It helped soothe her when we couldn't (namely, when she was in her car seat)
2. It would keep her quiet and occupied
3. It helped me wean her and get her to sleep completely through the night (amazing!!)
4. she liked to use it as a toy

We new the day would come when we'd have to take it away and that day came a few nights ago. I was a mean mommy and never gave one to her when we put her down for the night. She looked confused but went with it and fell asleep as usual without a peep. Not a sound! Piece of cake!

Nap time the next day however was awful! She screamed the WHOLE time. I went in 7 times or so to soothe her, but it didn't help. That night, she went to sleep completely fine, the punk.

The next nap time she cried only a little bit and actually slept a little. PROGRESS! She's getting there and really, I think we're almost at the light at the end of the tunnel. Yay!

Next up, getting a big girl bed and eventually potty training! YIKES. I'll keep you posted.

I made the paper!

I posted all about this on Lauren's Latest, but I didn't on here! So, this is the newspaper article that was published on my birthday! Gordon, Brooke and I flew from Ottawa back to Oregon and once we landed, my father-in-law had it in the car ready for us to read! It was a nice birthday present! :)
