A Quick Trip!!

What a quick trip we had to Boise, but we packed a lot of fun into it! Firstly, we went to Boise specifically for Gordon's police testing.

He did a written and a physical test whose results are being sent to 4 different police departments in Washington and Idaho (mostly Washington). He was worried that he wouldn't pass the written test, but he most certainly did AND was well above average! Next came the physical tests which he just knocked out of the park. The standards for Washington and Idaho are different, but after all the push-ups, sit-ups, sprints and 1 1/5 mile run, he got 100% for Washington and 94% for Idaho! Yay, Gordon! I was/still am so happy that he did so well! I am one proud wife! So, hooray for Gordon! Anyways, now his results get sent to all these different departments and they will contact him for any further interviews/oral boards. We're hoping he gets a few calls in the next few months.

While Gordon was testing his butt off (kind of literally), Brooke and I were having fun with one of my old roommates, Jeanne and her little boy, Carter, who is 2 weeks younger than Brooke! It was really funny seeing their different personalities and how they respond to and play with each other. At first, Brooke would cry every time Carter would laugh. I'm not sure if it scared her or what, but we thought it was pretty hilarious. So here are some photos of them and just as a disclaimer: Carter is pretty much naked in all of them, but I promise Jeanne does clothe her son!!

When these photos were being taken, Gordon said "atta boy Carter! Way to cover up!" Haha!!
As you can tell, Carter is a funny kid with a really cute personality! Wish we lived a little closer! Maybe we'll move to Boise, though!

Also, driving up to Boise was interesting. Trying to keep Brooke entertained for 4 hours is not an easy task. Luckily, we found a few things she liked:

We also got to see some of our friends from Rexburg, Dominic, Brittnae and their cute 2 month old, Gianni! They make such a cute little family! Brooke was trying to steal poor Gianni's pacifier! Once a thief, always a thief! We are looking forward to them moving back to Rexburg in April, even though we're moving away a few weeks later!

Anyways, our trip was great and we made some really great memories! Thank you to everyone in Boise! We love you all and can't wait to visit again!

PS- Brooke and I (and Shayna and her kiddies) are taking an impromptu trip to Canada to visit our Grandpa who is very ill. Please pray for him! And, while you're at it, pray for us that our kids behave on the flights!! THANK YOU!

SHE WALKS!!

Brooke started walking a week and a half ago and its all gone downhill from there! She started with two steps into her cousins arms and now the count is up to 21 steps! This video was taken two days ago and she's gotten so much better and a lot more confident. She seems so much older now that she can walk! I find myself looking around the apartment for her on the ground and I'm surprised that she's walking and not crawling! Way to go, Brooke!

Pretty Boy and Pudding

I bought a headband while I was in Utah and Gordon put it on the other day to entertain Brooke. They're both pretty cute, no?I am having trouble getting Brooke to eat or drink ANY dairy, so my mom suggested pudding and it worked and she liked it (for now)! We just let her go to town and this is what came of it.
We stripped her down before hand on purpose....she doesn't usually hang out naked, although I'm sure she'd love it.
And now, the evolution of Brooke eating her butterscotch pudding:

Of course we took some video footage too as any good parent would....

We haven't fallen off the face of the earth

So over the past couple of days, Gordon and I have been traveling....apart. He went to Portland to complete some testing to become an officer with the Portland Police Bureau. Since he was going to be gone for so long, I decided to visit one of my best friends, Amy, in Utah. Gordon left us last Friday and he took the computer too....hence no blog posts. But, we're all back safe and sound and I have internet access, so its time to catch up on what's been happening.

Brooke took her first few steps last week all on her own right into her cousins arms! It was pretty adorable. You can see the video of that here. I bought her a little stroller to practice walking without holding onto me, so this is her walking!

While we were in Utah, Brooke learned how to drink out of a straw and crawl up stairs! Gordon was really bummed he missed all these milestones while he was away. But, he got a really long 'vacation' from his responsibilities and I was jealous. I need to get away some time too! Plans are in the works.

I also did some shopping...mostly for Brooke. We are ready for summer! I found this cute bathing suit and matching sandals at a store called Crazy 8. They have really adorable clothing for affordable prices! I think she looks really grown up in these photos. She's getting older and smarter! Love that diaper sticking out!

Amy was kind enough to let me use her Costco membership so I could stock up on diapers, wipes and a few food storage items. Too bad the nearest Costco here is over an hour away! I love that store and all there great prices (and free samples!)

We ended up leaving a day early because Brooke was not sleeping very well at night which meant I wasn't sleeping very well at night. I think she was teething because another tooth broke through her gums while we were there. Maybe her 1-year molars are coming in too?! Who knows. [This reminds me--Brooke really hates whole milk. I've tried feeding it to her warm, cold, in a cup, sippy cup and bottle and she hardly drinks any. She is slowly starting to drink more and is getting used to it, but I don't want to wean her off of breast feeding if she isn't going to get enough nutrition. She will drink maybe 1/2 cup of milk a day when the recommendation is 2 cups. Any suggestions?! Maybe I'll try soy or rice milk?!]

Gordon flew home yesterday and we were excited to see him. Brooke was asleep by the time he got home so I had to keep Gordon from waking her up because he missed her so much....probably more than me!

Anyways, I am so happy that we are all together again because being apart isn't very fun. I love my family, especially that husband of mine. We are better together than apart.
