By George, I think she's got it!

So, that last post I wrote about potty training Brooke was a while ago and lots of things have happened!

She is officially potty trained! Her last accident was last Thursday and she's been dry ever since! She still wears a diaper to bed at night time just incase, but the last 3 nights, she's been waking up with a dry diaper!

We traveled to Portland on Wednesday and put a diaper on her then because we would be in the car for a considerable amount of time. Well, she held all her pee pee and kept her diaper dry the whole time!

Sometimes when her cousins come over to play, she gets distracted and we need to remind her that she needs to go to the potty. Other then that she's doing awesome!

One funny small glitch in the system is that every time she goes potty, she gets a sticker and 1 or 2 small candies {like M&M's}. Well, she can hold her pee pee so she has to go every 10 minutes so she can get more stickers and candies. She's too smart for her own good! We'll have to phase the candies out at some point......

Overall, I'm a happy Mommy!

These two girls are some of my best friends and I get to see them in 3 weeks! 

We're all meeting up in Chicago to have a fun filled weekend! 

We were even lucky enough to get Oprah tickets!

Potty Training Progress

In my opinion, Brooke has been doing great! I almost lost my mind Wednesday afternoon, but other then that, we've been just working on getting Brooke to use that pink little potty!

We officially started having Brooke not wear any diapers on Tuesday. She peed on the potty once and had 4 accidents. What a start! Ha! She did, however stay completely dry during her nap which I was more than thrilled about.

Wednesday, she had 2 accidents and peed on the potty twice. Still stayed dry through her nap.

Thursday {today} she's had only 1 accident and has peed on the potty once. I got brave and took her to the store and she stayed totally dry! Now she's down for her nap and I'm hoping she'll stay dry again.

If we keep her distracted by playing with her or having her watch elmo or mickey, then she is good about saying "pee pee" or "poo poo" and running over to her potty when she needs to use it. If she gets bored, then she says it for fun and then we take her a million times with nothing happening. Then when she says it for real, we don't take her fast enough because we think she's faking it and then she pees on the carpet. {At least that's what happened yesterday.} So, we're working on that still, but overall I think we're making good progress.

Update.

Gordon and I both went to the doctor yesterday.

I went first in the morning and felt utterly awful. After telling her my problems, she wanted to do a chest x-ray. But because I didn't have insurance she didn't do that. {She wanted the x-ray to rule out pneumonia.} So, instead of ruling it out, she said lets just assume you're young and healthy and that it's not pneumonia and gave me 3 prescriptions: a Z-pack, codeine cough syrup {sweet sweet elixir} and some hardcore Sudaphed {you can't buy this over the counter here because it's used for meth.}  If these don't work and I get a fever, then I get to go back for a chest x-ray and different meds because it's most likely pneumonia. Awesome, right? I know you're all jealous.

Gordon however doesn't have as severe a case as me, so he just got 1 prescription for a z-pack.

Brooke of course is fine and Gordon's parents are as healthy as can be. I have no clue why everyone else is immune to everything but us.

This is lame.

Here's a fun little story for you. 

Gordon caught the flu from some of his co-workers. Last weekend, while I was away on a girls trip, he gave the nasty little virus to Brooke. I got home and they both gave it to me. They healed all nicely, but I somehow got the super strong drug-resistant flu bug in me that I can't get rid of. These last few days have been so awful that I can't remember a time where I've been healthy.

I hate being sick.

Also, Gordon had a job lined up in Yakima, WA. He had 3 wonderful interviews and was the only candidate. He would have been able to use his Portuguese too. Well, turns out the manager didn't check to see if there was enough funding to simply replace a person and guess what? There wasn't enough funding! SO, no job. Is it just me, or do we have the worst luck?! No matter how many candidates there are for whatever job, he just can't get one. NOTHING is working out for us! NOTHING! It's starting to get a little ridiculous. 

I think it's a conspiracy.

Potty Training

So far, Brooke has been making slow and steady progress with the potty. But I want her to pick it up faster and I've been reading online at different programs you can buy. One even goes so far as to say "your toddler will be potty trained in 3 days flat!" Do you believe that? I'm not sure that I do.

So I want to hear all your opinions and the different programs you've used.

Brooke likes to sit on the potty and actually asks to sit on the potty but only occasionally pees.

I'm thinking I just need to get rid of the diapers cold turkey and stay on her for a few days and see how that goes. Thoughts?
