I have yet to REALLY update our blog. To be honest, I've been busy with
this little project--I love it! Even though it's small and hardly known at all, I still love it and enjoy thinking of new things to post about and experiment with! You should check it out. I would appreciate it.
Anyways, what is going on with us?! Well, life threw us a curve ball, as usual, and Gordon didn't end up getting hired on at the company he was interning with. Rats. So, right now, we remain or I should say he remains unemployed. However, things are still ok. This is very unlike me--me thinking things are ok when logically for all intensive purposes they are not. We are in a very unsteady position as it stands but I feel very calm about this whole situation which is a miracle in and of itself. Usually I am a planner and things need to be 'just so'. But, even though Gordon doesn't have any permanent job prospects in the near future I'm ok with that. Weird. But, I believe that this is a tender mercy from the Lord and/or I am learning to deal with these trials a little better then maybe I once used to. I know that we aren't going to be in this situation forever and we'll get through this. I think this is something that everyone has to go through to maybe appreciate things more. Knowing this makes the harder times a little bit easier.
This has taught us/me a lot: (1) How young, dumb and naive we were about 'graduate, get a job, make lots of money'--thats not quite how it works, at least for us. (2) Once we do get into steady income again, we will be much stricter with our spending habits. We've always been strict, but it makes us focus on what we need versus what we want. (3) The Lord will provide. I knew this one from the very beginning, but I know it even more now. (4) We are given trials for a reason and they all are necessary. So, bring it on! The more I can learn from this trial the quicker it'll be over?! Haha...ya right. Wishful thinking. (5) My faith will pull me through.
So, yeah, that is the main thing going on with the Brennan's.
Brooke had a pretty severe bum rash which she was not happy about last night. Poor girl. She's never ever had a rash nearly as bad as this. If it doesn't clear up by tomorrow, we'll be taking a trip to the doctor.
I was planning on going to Seattle in mid October to go to a book signing for one of my food blogging friends but now probably won't be able to go because it costs lots of money and our car is leaking oil. Not a good combo.
I'm still running and am signed up to do a relay race next June with 11 other women. I'm so excited! I want to do it tomorrow! It'll be challenging, but worth it!
Gordon is being a good hard working boy and has found a few odd jobs to try to keep us 'a float'. He also is working out doing running and P90X and looks mighty fine.
OHH! I'm doing P90X too and it is intense! When we were in Idaho a few months ago, I couldn't make it through the entire plyometrics dvd. I tried it again a few weeks back and I was able to do it all the way through this time! Holla! I am awesome. (haha....j/k)
We are applying to all finance related jobs anywhere, so if you know of anything, let us know!
So that is what's goin' on!
